60年代初，廣州西關一條狹窄、舊陋的小巷中居住著區老樞父子。50開外的區老樞是舊社會過來的老藝人，他酷愛廣東音樂，編寫過不少優美動人的曲譜。他畢生最大的心愿便是發表自己的曲集，可惜這個愿望至死未能實現。 他的兒子冠仔頗具音樂天賦，并一直受到父親的熏陶。但由于從小失去母愛，生活的負擔使他過早地成熟，養成了耿直的性格。在他們父子周圍居住著形形色色的鄰居，有熱愛廣東音樂而又心地善良的盲人；有與冠仔青梅竹馬、兩小無猜的慧女。小巷里人與人之間洋溢著友愛的暖流。 但是，"文革"的狂風暴雨打破了小巷的平靜。人們喜愛的音樂被禁止了，曲譜雖然被區老樞藏了下來，但小冠仔卻因在批斗區老樞的大會上聽到父親婚變"丑史"而深受刺激，一氣之下，離家出走，串聯、下鄉，一去就是多年…… 10年后，變得高大、粗獷、面容冷漠的冠仔回到了物是人非的小巷，見到了消瘦、蒼老的父親。父親仍念念不...
