根據真實事件改編，講述了蘇聯軍官Alexander Pechersky的英雄事跡。故事發生在索比堡，它作為波蘭4大集中營之一，是一個死亡集中營。而Alexander Pechersky卻做到了一件不可能的事情：他在三周的時間，組織了一次被囚人員的反抗行動且成功逃離了大批人員。雖然有人在途中被擊倒，剩下來的生者紛紛加入了反法西斯的游擊隊中去。
