《老丁的春天》是一部文藝味頗濃的影片。既是該片制片人也是編劇的王琳告訴記者，影片源自一個真實故事，其人姓丁，北京人氏，照顧前妻、前岳母、前岳父，共居一室。其人只是一名報攤小販，市井走卒之流，如果不用中華民族的傳統美德之類的詞來稱呼他，算得上是個“純爺們”。 王琳表示，當時看到這個故事之后觸動很大，“老丁沒有為社會作大貢獻，但他是家庭里的英雄，他是市民道德生活的榜樣。他能夠把所有矛盾化于無形，又能夠承受來自各方的不信任和壓力，他是市井游俠一類的人物，我是懷著景仰的心情，在為他作傳。”王琳說，在創作劇本時，她認為自己最應該做的只有兩點，如何讀解老丁這個人物，選擇哪一個角度去講老丁的故事。“對于像老丁這樣的事情來說，讀解最重要，因為會有太多自私自利的人不理解、藐視、嘲笑，甚至盲目拒絕老丁的行為。問題在于，編劇必須要對主人公所做的事情完全理解，才能通過戲劇手...

Follows the story of a prospective husband and wife named Salim and Tasya. The two decided to move their pre-wedding photo shoot to Salim's family home after his aunt, Salim's only blood relative, passed away. In addition to having to take care of his aunt's funeral, Salim also had to continue the family ritual of burning incense every day on a mysterious altar. If not, his life would be in danger.
