在東勝神州傲來國的花果山上，有一塊靈石飽受日精月華，最終幻化成一只機敏過人的神猴（費振翔 飾）。它占山為王，自命齊天大圣，訪仙山，結妖友，得名悟空，并習得一身絕世本領。隨后闖龍宮，入陰曹，更上演大鬧天宮的好戲。悟空被如來佛祖壓在五指山下，歷經五百年的風雨，終于得西天取經的高僧唐三藏（陳司翰 飾）相助重獲自由。受觀世音菩薩（陳沖 飾）之命，悟空拜唐僧為師，之后又收服了小白龍（王帥 飾）、豬八戒（謝寧 飾）、沙和尚（牟鳳斌 飾）。師徒一行不辭辛苦，一路上更遭遇無數妖魔鬼怪與艱難險阻…… 本片根據中國古典四大名著之一《西游記》改編。
