Rainbow is an uplifting, enchanting, magical fable set in Rajasthan that reinforces the belief that life is beautiful. 1989年的5月，一起溶尸奇案轟動香江。美麗的空中小姐Brenda（賀恩 飾）被人殺害，并投入強酸池中溶蝕分解。不久，其前男友汪德明（吳鎮宇 飾）及其現任同居女友Kitty阮（梁思敏 飾）作為嫌疑犯被警方拘捕。 一年后，備受感情困擾的社工Shirley（葉童 飾）出入女子監獄對Kitty進行心理輔導。此時Kitty的情緒極不穩定，為了汪德明先后兩次自殺。為了幫她重振生活的信心，Shirley來到赤柱監獄探訪汪德明。幾次見面后，汪開始向其袒露心跡以及和Kitty交往的經過，Shirley也向汪傾訴了自己的情事。擁有情感創傷的兩人對彼此漸生依賴，而Shirley也開始為汪德明的清白奔走呼告……
