劉忠將軍，1906年生于上杭縣才溪鎮才溪村。1927年參加才溪區農民協會，1929年參與領導才溪農民暴動，同年入黨并參加紅軍，為新中國的成立作出了不可磨滅的貢獻。1955年被授予中將軍銜，榮獲二級八一勛章、一級獨立自由勛章、一級解放勛章。1988年榮獲一級紅星功勛榮譽章。電影《絕地先鋒》是以劉忠將軍戰斗事跡為素材創作的。
