女作家徐尋（李心潔）在處女小說獲得空前成功后陷入創作困境。在創作新的定名為《鬼域》的小說時，她期望向讀者呈現一個如幻似真的“詭異空間”，無奈反反復復幾次構想出來的故事情節都差強人意，而昔日情人的再一次現身，更令她心緒紛亂，一怒之下，她刪除了電腦里的《鬼域》初稿，卻自此進入自己虛構出來的“鬼域”。 一番驚險之旅之后，徐尋在鬼域里遇見一小女孩（曾雅琪），得知鬼域意為“被遺棄的空間”，現實生活中人們所遺棄的一切（包括打掉的胎兒），都能在這里找到。在該女孩的幫助下，徐尋開始了更加恐怖的逃亡旅程，后來兩人在鬼域老伯（劉兆銘）的指點下，朝鬼域的出口奔去，小女孩的身世之謎逐漸被揭開。
