故事發生在東北某山區的老爺嶺一帶。日本在侵華的過程中，在此建造了一座化學武器庫。日本軍官畸田為了保護化學武器庫，屠殺了整個靠山屯，小喜子等幾個孩子僥幸脫線，加入了抗聯隊伍。其后，這些孩子多次尋找日軍的化學武器庫都失敗了，但他們并不氣餒不服輸，終將日軍的化學武器庫給炸毀了。
