新元文明，二百五十三年，犯罪率升高是否與“零度共情者”相關，正成為這個社會越來越讓人矚目的話題。一起送貨員被謀殺案牽扯出了一個犯罪團伙，而真兇被確定為最能引起社會討論的“零度共情者”，案子雖然順利結束了，但負責該起案件的特調組探員駱為昭卻意識到一切并沒有表面看起來這么簡單。之后人口失蹤案、富豪車禍案、走失大學生遇害案，一個個“零度共情者”被推到公眾面前，駱為昭（付辛博 飾）意識到除了這些被推出來的兇手外，實習探員裴溯（張新成 飾）似乎也牽扯其中，幾起案件背后還另有其人在穿針引線。最后這些犯罪勢力被一網打盡，公眾也意識到基因決定不了一個人的優劣、善惡，人可以戰勝基因，人可以自由選擇，只要心存希望之光，哪怕身處幽暗深淵，也終有一天會回到陽光之下。
